Tolerance

Our values word for this month is Tolerance. We have been telling the children stories and working on ways to show tolerance during assemblies and Circle Time. The key message we wish to support the children in understanding tolerance, is that:

  • we are all different and enjoy different things or value different things – every person is unique and special in their own way
  • being different is OK as long as we treat each other fairly
  • tolerance is about respecting each other views or opinions
  • tolerance can be about taking time to listen to others We hope you will help us and support the children in understanding such a difficult concept. We have linked this idea to the value of respect which we talked about last month, as the two values have much in common. We hope, that by encouraging tolerance and respect in our children, that they will be better able to understand many things which they will encounter in school.
